Good Morning Thirsty For The Word Thursday...
Father, may The TRUTH that You LOVE us and that You are FOR us fill us with JOY AND CONFIDENCE TODAY. LET this TRUTH sink deep into our hearts today. Let it SHAPE every area in our LIFE TODAY! IN YESHUA, JESUS CHRIST’s Name we pray. AMEN! - Begin Again Today... The King’s Way Peter The Disciple was: hot headed, quick spoken, puffed up, and usually ready for a fight. Does this sound like anyone you know? Of course. We all know someone like this... it may even be us. Despite the bad wrap Peter gets, he was a real soldier for Christ, and quite possibly the chief of second chances. He is easy to relate to because we have all put our foot in our mouths before. While Peter may have sometimes spoken out of turn, or been a little too quick to act, Our Father and Savior recognized Peter’s good character traits and gave him wonderful opportunities to learn the right way, and in turn gave us wonderful opportunities to learn the right way as well. I thank Our Father In Heaven Above for Peter and all his stories of second chances! This brings us to today’s story. In Luke 5 we find Yeshua, Jesus, preaching from a boat, Peter’s boat. Yeshua then told Peter to take Him fishing with him. It did not seem Peter really wanted to do this. The one day apostle did not seem too interested. We can only imagine that he was tired, in fact he had fished all night and caught nothing. He was doubtful, maybe discouraged, and his flesh was probably calling for a bed. Even though Peter showed reluctance, he took Jesus’s instruction and said, “at Your Word I will let down the net” (Luke 5:5). This is where Peter shined. He listened. The was one of the “Peter moments of Truth” in The Bible. By doing what Our Messiah asked, Peter was submitting that he would begin again, but this time Yeshua’s Way, God’s Way. What happened next? Peter caught so many fish it almost sank the boat! In fact, the second boat that was there had to come and help, and... they filled both of them! Here is Peter’s reaction: “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O LORD!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.” Luke 5:8-11 We aren’t so different than Peter you know. We all usually try our way first, but we as people have much less understanding most of the time than we like to admit. Peter, though reluctant, triumphed in this story because he listened, heard, and acted with Yeshua in the boat. May none of us miss our opportunity for a second chance because of failure and discouragement, or miss the opportunity altogether because of inaction. May we all make the choice to press on, even in the face of discouragement, tiredness, or having an empty belly. Remember, Our King, Messiah, Father, and God never, and I mean never, forgets us, His Children. We just have to remember to keep our eyes on Him, look up, and when things don’t go the way we think they should, or we fail, if we want surprisingly wonderful results, all we have to do is BEGIN AGAIN TODAY... THE KING’S WAY. The Infallible, Astonishingly And Perfectly Successful, Undeniable Word of God Almighty (El Shaddai): “So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” So when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all and followed Him.” Luke 5:1-11 Have a Blessed “King’s Way” kind of day everyone!
