Good Morning Friday...
Father, Your COMMANDMENTS are a Lamp to our feet. HELP US TO LIVE AWARE, TO CHOOSE WISELY, to stay close to You, and ANCHORED IN Your TRUTH! Thank You FOR Your GREAT LOVE and MERCY. Thank You that You Wait For Us and You STRENGTHen Us. We come to You today, choosing to walk in Your Presence, Instruction, AND LIGHT. In YESHUA, JESUS CHRIST’s Name we pray. AMEN! - A Ten Commandment Countdown To 2022 - Command/Instruction #9 - Speaking Truth Instruction: With this commandment we see most applying it as an umbrella term for not lying. The implication and application of this command can certainly mean that, but it specifically points to lying about someone else, our neighbor. Not telling The Truth is not a good thing no matter how you cut it, it is a sin, and we are commanded in The Word of God to repent from this type of behavior (Ex. Colossians 3:9 - See picture verses). While lying is a sin, I have to believe, because of Our Father's wording of the command, that it is even a greater evil to speak something that is not truthful about another person or "our neighbor." As defined today this would be defamation of character. We are to speak Truth, not speak things about people that are not true. We should not think we are excused either if we are quick to repeat something we heard from a gossiping mouth and repeat it without a close look at the facts or Truth of the situation. Rumors, more often than not, are indeed false witness against our neighbor. The Giving of Thanks: Just like in all the rest of The Ten Commandments, The Maker of All Things, God Our Father, gave this Commandment to protect each of our good names. Our Father cares about our reputation. Think about it...you represent Him. Why would He want you slandered or defamed? He doesn't! Let us take a moment to thank Him for His Glorious Vision, Care, and Mindfulness in giving us this Commandment. Confession: Let's take a moment and confess to Our Father the times we may have purposefully and intentionally spoken things that are not true against another. Now let's dig a little deeper and confess the times we may have been quick to repeat a rumor or half truth about another person, whether we knew it to be true or not. Let us confess the times that we may have twisted The Truth to fit our needs or to make someone look a little, or a lot, worse, and make ourselves look a little, or a lot, better. Next, let's ask Our Kind Father to search out the intentions of our hearts when we speak freely about others, as to whether we know what we are speaking is true or not. Should we really be speaking negatively about anyone? I am sure most of us have heard the old saying from our parents: "If you don't have something nice to say..." we all know the rest. Finally, on the deepest level, let us think of any ways we may have spoken untruthfully about Our Father In Heaven, with our own words, or our actions in life. For Prayer: Dear Father, God Almighty Above, You are The Greatest Truth Speaker Of All Time. You Always Speak Truth and "tell it like it is." You are incapable of lying and You would never tarnish someone's reputation. Help us to seek Your Truth, to speak Your Truth, and to Live Your Truth. Help us to speak Truth about others, and most importantly, to speak Truth about You... not only in our words, but in The Way we live our lives. Father, we come to you with humble and loving hearts because of all of Your Great Commands and Mercies, and ask these things in Your Beautiful Son's Name, The One Who Always Spoke Your Truth, Yeshua, Jesus Christ. Amen.
